First MG & Company built Daniel on 65th Street and Park, then Chef Boulud’s DB Bistro Moderne in Midtown, and next we completed what has now become the wildly successful Bar Boulud on the West Side. Squeezing all of the components into this low ceilinged space with complex structural issues was quite a challenge—the residential building above housed over 500 apartments and many of the apartment’s mechanical systems ran through part of the restaurant space. But this once-cluttered area is now the location of a vast kitchen and the most elegant, always-booked private dining rooms.
